I’m trying to relearn that my needs aren’t flaws, they’re needs.

Social interaction is exhausting. It is hard work. I am in a constant state of tired.

That idea that recovery is not a reward for the task, but part of the task was such a penny drop moment for me. I genuinely never thought of it in quite those terms, and it feels as if a veil has been lifted. Thank you!

“All the invisible admin of existence” is the best description I’ve heard of autistic adulting.

We autistics should be given the task of designing the world. We'd create such peace!

Is this why I feel like I could sleep for days, but I actually can't and instead just want to be alone, in quiet?

Am I the only one that gets extremely exhausted by strong emotions? Being confronted with fear, anger, drama etc. drains me extremely fast. Especially when I can sense that something is off with others, but I cannot put my finger on what exactly it is.

I used to say I am tired, thinking that people would understand what that meant. Most people do not understand severe, debilitating fatigue and what that means. Every last ounce of life force drained.

Work burns me out hard.. I made the mistake of pushing myself into customer service jobs before I fully understood that I was autistic. I thought I just wasn't a people person. Pushing outside my comfort zone. Truth is that dealing with people wrecks me.. even if it's lots of low cost interactions. They stack up quick and the energy tax feels exponential. Patience doesn't pack and leave the country.. It pulls a Batman and vanishes without a word. Through a portal to another universe. And then the impaitence gets swallowed and chokes me out, because I can't loose the job. Mouths to feed and bills to pay... Heavy Metal and cannabis have kept me kicking and screaming as this world tried to drown me. Thank you Orion, your insight and drive to help us is a wonderful thing. I truly love you for it. Not in a weird way.
