  Im blessed to have immigrant parents who also came with nothing but never pressured us to pursue any career we didn’t like or to get married. They are truly amazing

  My son is 3rd year in medical school and took leave of absence. He said to me he wouldn’t have residency instead take other path. My heart was broken but trying to understand him. He got burned out and stressed out. I told him do what you like and make you smile. I want him to be happy and healthy 🥹

  I feel so bad for so many Asian people. &nbsp;They get WAY TOO MUCH PRESSURE to do what their parents want.

  Everyone’s leaving because medical education fucking sucks. The system needs to evolve but rarely does so.

  Follow your heart. You only have one life to live. Medicine is not for everyone. Money is not everything. Happiness, fullfillment and sense of purpose is everything. This is coming from a physician practicing for the last 16 years (after residency).

  This decision comes down to one thing: do you love what you do? If you don&apos;t, stop doing it. If you do love it but hate the corporate hospital system, then the best move is to find a way to do it independently. As a therapist I learned that I loved the profession but hate working for the agencies as they are overbearing and unconcerned with how the enormous workload they give you destroys therapists mental health. So I decided to go independent and never looked back. I make my own hours, make WAY more money, and live practically stress-free compared to how much stress I had working for a corporate system.

  I also left dental school during pandemic and I don&apos;t regret it, even though I get paid alot less nowdays, I&apos;m happy and full of purpose in life. Good luck, brother, you deserve all the best.

  Second year medical student here. I&apos;ve already decided that I&apos;m not working full time. The degree has already taken so much from me.

  My residency (2001 - 2005) and fellowship (2005 - 2007); physically &amp; mentally very difficult &amp; challenging....I had no other career alternative. I am very grateful I pushed through. Our family of 6 moved to the US when I was 12 yo, youngest sister 6yo. Parents worked minimum wage jobs, lived paycheck to paycheck. They were so busy they never pressured us on our career choices. Glad I can give back to them. My brother is also a physician, one sister is an attorney in California and the other is a biomedical engineer pHD - pharmacokineticist at a well known successful biotech company. Life was tough, barely above poverty. Sacrifice, Resilience, Endurance and Persistence. Happy you found your own path.
