This is by far THE best YouTube channel for any amateur who is serious about their golf. All of it is absolute gold. The whiteboard videos especially.

This concept is so relevant to my recent rounds! I’ve definitely struggled translating sim golf to the course and I think a big piece of it is the change in ground terrain and subsequently my stability on the course. Great great explanations of how concepts connect. 👍

Love how you combine the mental and physical aspects of a golf swing together to help me better understand how, and why, I get the results that I get on the course. Cheers!

Thanks for talking about this, Manu. I learned about 3 years ago about the relationship between the conscious and subconscious mind and this massively improved my game. Whatever you consciously present to your brain, from the grip to the top of the backswing, is what you're giving your brain to work with on the downswing, which you cannot consciously control. Your conscious intent at setup is to hit the ball however you decide to do that: low shot, high shot, fade, draw, whatever. Your brain will do it's best with what you consciously give it to accomplish that. If your grip is right, your stance, your takeaway, your body turn, then your brain will automaticlaly produce a decent shot. If any of these things is off, your brain will compensate to make your body do whatever it has to on the downswing to make contact with the ball. It could result in a chunk, a slice, a hook, a thin shot, whatever.

My point in bringing this up is that up until about 3 years ago, nobody ever told me about this connection. In the previous 27 years of playing golf and going for lessons and watching youtube videos, nobody ever explicitly mentioned this connection. Why? I think the golf teaching industry depends on golfers never truly getting to their next level and this is exactly why I think I was never told about any of that mind/brain part of the swing. I found a golfer on YouTube that focused his teaching on the foundational idea of the connection between the conscious and subconscious mind and my game changed forever. I now have a plan for every swing I take, be it a driver swing or a greenside chip. I'm not saying I'm perfect; I'm a billion miles from it, but this approach to the swing changed everything for me. Whenever I hit a bad shot, I ask myself “what did I present to my brain that produced that result?” The answer is almost always something in the setup and/or backswing.

Manu is quickly becoming my "go to" guy for golf instructional videos. He covers both the mechanics and the mental game, while keeping things light and humorous. Great work!

    This really a great topic

Man, you are seriously one of the best at explaining things clearly and in a way that actually sticks. This video was amazing.
I also watched your “journey to becoming a scratch golfer” video last night from start to finish, and honestly, it completely changed my perspective on a lot of things.
Here in Colombia, coaches don’t really emphasize course management or many of the concepts you talk about, so this was eye-opening. It’s refreshing to see someone break the game down the way you do.
Thank you for taking the time to share all this knowledge, it really makes a difference. Please keep going down this path, you’re helping more people than you probably realize.

Part of my warm up is balance. One legged squats and just taking turns balancing on one foot. Great video!
