The automated bag sizers are ridiculous. If my carry-on fit on 20 flights before, suddenly charging me $100 because of half an inch feels like a money grab.

Some carriers dropping  the carry-on bag dimension by one inch was a total D move when overheads have been designed for the original size.

I had to buy a new carry-on for an upcoming trip due to the stricter measurements. It's insane how many "TSA-approved" bags are sold online, but when you read the fine print about their actual dimensions, they are too large by inches! I finally gave up and went shopping in person. After searching at five stores and checking dozens of bags, I only found three that met the 22x14x9 requirements. Many bore tags claiming to meet these measurements, but I double-checked them with my my own measuring tape, and again, most were off by inches. You could even stand them next to each other and see up to a 4" difference in height alone. Clearly, suitcase/bag manufacturers are not keeping up with the times and are choosing to flat-out LIE about their products' measurements. I'm still nervous about my bag because despite being hard-sided, there is enough play in the zipper to throw the two sides off-kilter by a full inch in width or height. Wish me luck!

This is such an important reminder because one small packing mistake can cause huge delays at the airport. Very useful video!

The real ID act passed in 2005. The government gave states and their citizens 20 years to catch up before they started enforcing the rule. Colorado was set up with real IDs in 2006, so I find it strange that other states are so far behind.

Who's to blame for the airline baggage problem?  It used to be simple: you checked your luggage at the airport, brought your personal items on board, and there was no additional charge. Then airlines began charging for checked bags. Naturally, passengers responded by bringing as much as possible onboard—carry-on luggage plus a personal item.  Now we have more people carrying bags through security, more competition for overhead bin space, and longer boarding times. In many ways, the airlines created the very problem they are now trying to manage.  Of course, there are important items that should stay with you: medications, important documents, valuables, and electronics. But electronics are smaller and lighter than ever, and baggage handling has also advanced considerably with real-time tracking systems, and personal trackers.  And what about the time it takes to retrieve checked luggage? Hasn't baggage-handling technology also improved significantly? Modern conveyor systems, automated sorting and real-time tracking should make it easier and faster to move bags from the aircraft to the baggage carousel.  So the real question is: Are airlines actually saving enough money on baggage handling and employees to justify shifting all this luggage into the cabin? And has the increase in lost or damaged baggage really been significant enough to justify making passengers pay to check a bag?  Perhaps the baggage problem isn't entirely the passengers' fault. Maybe the airlines created it themselves when they turned checked luggage into an additional source of revenue.

I worked for TSA at DFW for 5 years and I can say that we never taken away any snow globes no matter how big it was so this is not true, people will opt to get a pat down just to keep them, but sadly we always took the jams, jellies and peanut butters
