most searches aren't about catching bad people. They're usually just trying to identify something the scanner can't clearly read.

Of all the things I have had my bag pulled for, the most annoying was definitely baby powder. They dragged out all my dirty laundry and everything saying there was a large bottle of liquid. It was a tub of baby powder. Also annoyed when they pulled everything out over baby wipes.

Just returned from Ireland to US. For years I have traveled with a small pair of nice embroidery scissors with no problem. None with TSA nor entering Ireland. Leaving however, security check did pull them from my carry-on and keep them. I did talk them into letting me keep the leather sheath. Still mad about it but not much can be done but purchase another pair.

In Stuttgart. Potpourri bowl/metal cover with cutouts of birds and flowers- they couldn’t determine what it was. They called my name over the PA system to go to security 😮no lie! Scary.

A boxed card game. It was fine, but they had to open the bag and check it.
