  I quite often use the coffee table if there is no luggage rack. Never in the bed.

  We developed a habit of going through every drawers, rooms, tables, beds etc. before checking out at a hotel.

  I never put my bags on the bed, always on baggage rack, then check for bedbugs. Always put shoes/sandals in plastic bags, double of them, apply for toiletries too which I put inside the shoes; socks work great too inside the shoes. .  Always put fabric softeners and wash everything when I'm back home.  Wash cloth when possible, not as clean as doing in the washing machine, but at least better that dirty ones, not to mention I don't have to carry too much.  Always pack half mine, half my husband's if we go together, so if one bag lost, we still have cloth to change. NEVER EVER put medicines in check-in bag, always in your Carry on.  Always get name card of the hotels. I never put anything in the seat pocket except my glasses, spare cable; I always put my phone in my bag, One thing I always do is using old luggage, I even make the bag looks like a beaten up one, by put a piece of material on the handles as is the handle are broken before. Nobody want to steal anything from a "cheap & broken" bags, nothing worthy inside the bag like that. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  My shoes always go in a plastic grocery bag. Keeps it out of landfill, free, disposable.

  I did exactly what you said. Suitcase was damaged. We did report damage but they never paid for this demage.

  I am a 68 old passenger who have been travelling since 2015 almost every other year. I have learnt so much here that I almost do but 1 think that caught my attention is putting your charger in an unused glass case ,which makes so much sense. Iam always patting all over my bag looking for it.  Thank you. Very useful information

  Hotel rooms are small without a lot of places for things to hide. Just before I leave I look in every drawer, and under every piece of furniture. I look under seat cushions and under the sheets. I carry a small flashlight that I use to look under the bed. I just search every nook and cranny that something might have fallen into. Sometimes I find interesting things previous tenants have left behind.

  Bedbugs are notoriously difficult to spot so how do you find them? Strip the while bed before you sleep?<br>And I NEVER travel without packing cubes. Tops in one, bottoms in another, pijamas and underwear in another. The advantage is that I take out the packing cubes from the suitcase and place them in a hotel drawer or shelf and just take my clothes out directly. If you don’t have packing cubes, use zip lock bags!

  Taking an international flight with two different airlines who had an official collaboration, I needed to present the luggage receipt from airline #1 at the ticket counter when I switched to airline #2! Good thing I hadn’t lost it.

  The shoe by the door is a great idea, but I always have a pack of the small sticky notes. I put one on the door with the thing(s) I want to be reminded about. Then I don’t have to wonder what it was for.
