Super film. Mallard should be restored to steam if funds allow. Sitting in a museum should not be the fate of this magnificent engine.

Every time I see the Mallard I am reminded forcibly of my darling husband who loved it. Thank you.

One of the most beautiful trains ever made, in my eyes. Such wonderful form and a gorgeous livery.

Testament to a sadly bygone era , testament also to the skilled engineers who built these beasts with far less advanced technology  than today! Men were men and knew what a days work was !!

As a small boy in 1957 I remember being pulled from York To Peterborough by 60022 Mallard. It was taken off the train there and replaced by 60033 Seagull.I shall never forget that day.We all had tea in the Restaurant car as a special treat with my Granny !!!

Nearest I got to this experience was around 8 years or so later. Duchess of Hamilton between Farington Jn and Carlisle over the S & C, with electric City of Carlisle covering the rest to/ from Euston (or in my case Watford). We got to wander over the tracks at the Garsdale water stop too. Great experience.
