Henry VIII showed his true colors at the beginning of his rein. He executed his father's ministers who did nothing but follow orders. He began with blaming others and continued to do so for the rest of his life. Terrible person from the very start with a huge ego and a streak of cruelty.

I think we're drawn to him as we're drawn to gossip and true crime shows. He was a horrible human being but an entertaining one.

Everyone says his father Henry VII was boring, but looking back he was a much better ruler. I’d rather have a boring ruler than a dramatic one that causes more damage than good.

He was a serial killer by proxy. People are fascinated by him, but I think "love" is not the right word. It's the drama of it all that people love, not Henry (except those people who fall in love with serial killers).
