  The point of Catherine Howard being a sexually abused child is something that's always bothered me a great deal. She was blamed for the fact older men groomed her, manipulated her, and then shamed her for their actions.

  Perhaps Jonathan Ryes Myers has no physical resemblance to Henry, but he captured the sadness and occasional flash of evil that other  did not.

  In the Tudors, Johnathan Rhys Meyer may not have looked like the king in later years, but why I liked him best is that he certainly portrayed all aspects of Henry's, charm, craftiness, intelligence and then later dangerous volatility, certainly someone you had to tread warily with and later on egg shells. You couldn't ask for better acting in showing Henry's charismatic genious and volativity.

  I think Wolf Hall, in depicting Anne's execution, went the extra mile in getting it correct. It was done by a professional, French swordsman who was hired to do so, because he was an expert and did so with a bit of flair. He says "bring the sword", in French, stepping to one side, which causes her to turn. She thinks the sword isn't in hand yet. She doesn't notice him, being blindfolded, step back again. These professional executioners prided themselves on giving a "clean" and painless death to the condemned.

  I think it's tragic that Katherine Howard is always somehow portrayed as promiscuous but when you consider her age she is more likely a victim of child abuse who acted on the insecurities she developed and was punished for her abuse

  I mean, Anne of Cleves was betrothed to Henry when he showed up as a stranger, grabbed her and kissed her. If I was her, I'd be thinking that King Henry would have her HEAD if she permitted a strange man to kiss her right before she was to be married!!! What did he expect her to do? Fall into a strangers embrace? That part has always bugged me.

  Still think Damien Lewis's depiction of Henry in Wolf Hall is the stand out -  magnificent & chilling throughout, 'deadly', threatening, loaded, cruel, etc...and also occasionally showing his vulnerability.

  What good thing about the Spanish queen is that they cast a person who actually looks like young Catherine of Aragon. Every other depiction shows her as a black haired, brown eyed dark Spanish stereotype……. <br><br>making an edit here. ……My original point was this actress best resembled the original paintings of Catherine of Aragon that I have seen in documentaries and in history books….. <br><br>I had a Hispanic father and a mother from East Europe…. I don’t have the eye color or the skin color of my father’s family or of my sibling who strongly resembles my father side. &nbsp; Even today at a bank or store, I consistently hear and see disbelief when my Spanish name is brought up or seen on a card and my appearance does not resemble someone’s vision that it’s supposed to be associated with the name. <br><br>That’s all I’m saying. For those producers in the future, take a look at Catherine of Aragon‘s original portrait. They exist.

  Anne Boleyn’s execution is ironic, because if Henry had their marriage annulled as though it had never existed, then she did not need to be executed, because Anne was never unfaithful to the king if she was never his wife to begin with.
