2026 Forester Petrol vs Hybrid | Which Actually Makes Sense?

If Subaru only sold hybrid versions of its best-selling SUV (like in the case  the Toyota RAV4), we would never really have this data showing how good the petrol version is. Should Toyota still sell non-hybrid RAV4s? Or did Subaru get it wrong?

Don't worry about Hybrid if your main reason for buying a Subie is road trips and light off-roading.

I have the petrol and get 7.6 lt/ 100 km with about 60% freeway, really enjoy the car . Enjoyed the comparison and the great review.

I will definitely buy the turbo model. Fun to drive.

Why don't have turbo 195 kw like new Outback ❤

And the Aus MD is surprised the hybrid sales are lower than expectation. People would buy a RAV4 if they're staying on tarmac

I have the petrol sport 2025 model. I took it up a steep, rutted, dirt incline. I think it was around 25 meters long at a 17/18 degree incline (I didn’t check the onscreen stats because I was trying to focus on getting up with barely being able to see the road in front because it was so steep). It took three attempts. First two were the same line. There was a ditch it wouldn’t go over. Took a different line and with a couple of wheel spins, one not moving forward but keeping acceleration it made it up the hill.<br>And it seems to be averaging 9L which I’m not so impressed with.

What doesn’t make sense is that the “Sport” trim of the petrol and hybrid are spec-ed differently. IMO the details and equipment should be the same, just the powertrain the difference. The Hybrid looks more premium. Does the Symmetrical AWD impact the hybrid efficiency performance compared to the FWD RAV4 with e motor of the rear wheels?

So far we are averaging 6.66 L/100km or 35.3 miles per US gallons over 14 fill ups, 9154 kms / 5688 miles. &nbsp;70% highway driving. &nbsp; For the missing spare tire, I&apos;m planning on switching to the Continental SSR tires whenever it&apos;s time to upgrade. &nbsp; For the off-road part, I have a 2023 4Runner... 19mpg avg and no tricky terrain worries! 🤪🤣

To purchase the hybrid is a bit silly, lacking in the performance tests compared to NA version, the increase in price for hybrid doesn&apos;t pay for itself &nbsp;quick enough in fuel. Naturally aspirated, don&apos;t fall for strong hybrids until they become cheapers and genuinely worth your while 🤗
