Cheers me up just seeing Bob's face beaming with nerdy delight and enthusiasm as he shows us a model.

I remember watching this back in the day and excitedly telling my mother that when I grow up I want the same beard as him and I wanted to make toys like him!
46 years later, I have the same beard and I make a living making miniature suits of armour.
Be careful what you wish for people. 😂👍🇬🇧
What an amazing and refreshingly gentle float downstream this is. Bravo Mr Symes.

Model Engineering is one of the finest, most underrated hobbies and should be considered an art form.

Phillip Warren is still going today with his matchstick Navy. He's made every Royal Navy ship including the new carriers HMS Prince of Wales and Queen Elizabeth. The destroyer HMS Sheffield that he shows us the model of in this clip was sadly sunk in the Falklands only 3 years later.

oh such happy memories bed bound with a smashed ankle in the summer of 1987 watching the whole 10 part model world series being reapeated on week day mornings - If the BBC still made programs like this it would be worth the license fee.

They don’t make them like the wonderful Bob (Schutzmann) Symes anymore! The ultimate enthusiast, explainer, and a thoroughly good (Austrian) egg.

Oh my word, the nicest video with nicest comments. The world indeed would be much nicer if we all just showed intelligence and love of what we do. My neighbours children never leave their bedrooms and live through their mobiles. I would say they haven’t left the building in months. That’s how life has changed.
