I don't expect obedience, I don't even want it, but when someone says they're part of an organization that exists to serve me and then turns around and says, do what I tell you or we'll never talk to you again

It becomes pretty clear who expects obedience.

My reasons why the Blades suck:
1: They let the elves kick their asses all across Tamriel.
2 - 17: Delphine.

I do so dearly wish you could tell Delphine and Esbern that since they won't help you, they're no longer Blades and no longer your allies. You're the DRAGONBORN. The person they've supposedly been hunting for since Martin sacrificed himself. Jauffre was a fuckup but he'd be ashamed of these people wearing the name of Blades.

    Trust one:
The Blades - "You're our boss, but if you don't do what we say, we'll take our ball and go home."
Paarthurnax - "Hold on, Alduin just showed up. Hold my beer while I go scratch his eyes out for you."

So, the Blades of old claimed to serve the Dragonborn, yet 200 years after they failed to keep the last of the Septim bloodline alive, we're expected to take orders from Delphine and accept them as law? Like, woman, YOU serve ME, not the other way around. The dragon lives, and that's final.

I like that idea that the running theme of Skyrim's vanilla game is DECAY. every faction you encounter is going through some major setbacks and are far from their peak. The Blades are no different, from serving the emperor directly to trying to boss around the only Dragonborn in 200 years and acting like a literal toxic spouse

This is the same emperor that:

- Sent his trusted agent to Daggerfall to help discover the fate of its king, and thwart a secret coup to restore peace to the Iliac Bay

- Seen visions in the stars and so sent a random prisoner to Vaardenfell, who went onto become the Nerevarine and destroyed Dagoth Ur.

- Entrusted another random prisoner with preventing the Oblivion Crisis by giving them the Amulet of Kings and aending them on a random mission to see Jauffre.

Only to be ignominiously cut down in the sewers by a lowly cultist of the Mythic Dawn.

Man, what a way to go out.

Let us take a moment to pour one out for our man Uriel Septim VII 😢

Delphine, 'Trust me.' Paarthunax, '"Trust your instincts, Dovahkiin. Your blood will show you the way.' Yeah that's an easy choice.

You know the more I think back and really look at the Blades they are literally a cult. They do everything they can to make you see things their way. The second you show any hesitation or resistance to what they want it's "Well I guess we can't keep helping you" or "It goes against my oath".

The best part about that the dragon Nahfahlaar literally was apart of the imperial army under Tiber himself. So no idea how they think that oath excuse can fool anyone. Think about it one of the big reasons the invaders came from Akavir was not only to conquer land but because they really like killing dragons. It was the biggest thing they did at home then they heard "Hey the guys across the pond have dragons" and they started salivating. The only reason they stopped was because they found a guy who could kill dragons better than them.

I'm basically convinced if their was a dragon that had been nothing but peaceful it's whole life the Blades would look at it get that twitchy look in the eye and say "But think about what they could do".

The Blades say they serve the Dragonborn, but they only see the Dragonborn as a weapon for them.
