In the 1680s, the Chief of Clan Robertson raised hundreds of Clansmen in the first Jacobite War. In 1715, he again raised hundreds of Robertson Clansmen for the 2nd Jacobite Uprising. Then in 1745, he again raised hundreds of Robertsons for the final Jacobite uprising.

Cameron & McIntosh feud - my 3x great-grandparents were a Scottish Romeo & Juliet. Alexander Cameron (1784 - 1820) married Mary McIntosh (1787 - 1819). Alexander was a cousin of the Cameron Chief, and Mary was a relative of Aneas McIntosh (the Chief). With both Alexander & Mary dying young, their children went to live in the Cameron castle near Fort William (Achnacarry). In 1836 the children and a few older relatives emigrated to Ontario, Canada. There my 2x g-grandmother married a Scottish man (Blackwood) who had also emigrated to Canada. His cousin, Frederick Temple Blackwood (Lord Dufferin) was Governor General of Canada (1872-1878), and then Viceroy of India (1884-1888). Thanks for all the great Scottish information!

My grand-father married a Cameron. Both MacGregor's and Cameron's fought the Colquhoun's at the Battle of Glen Fruin on February 7th 1603. The battle was more like a rout for the MacGregor's with 140 to 200 of Colquhoun's men dead, only five of the MacGregor's were killed, including the chief's brother John MacGregor.

Oh yes! Maternal great-grandmother = Mary Armstrong! "Invictus Maneo" (I remain unvanquished!) Never give up. Never give in. Stay true to one's own self and our own values for our family and our lands and our stong-arms!

When I think about it, although my mother was born after Grand-Mary passed, her words and the thoughts behind them still stir my heart and soul, 100+ years after her death in North Florida in August 1922. Be who you are rather than what someone else wants you to be. As in To Be, rather than to seem to be.

Thank you Clint for including the Clan Armstrong. 🧡💚💜🤎

I'm related to the MacLean Clan. My great grandmother is a McLain. Which started me in looking up my heritage.
