We visited Scotland in 2023, and from speaking to the locals in the Glencoe area I can tell you they have not forgotten.

As a Scottish child nearly 60 years ago, I remember standing in the Culloden battlefield after learning of the battle in history lessons. It was a barren landscape and I had such a strong feeling on that battlefield of lost souls. It had such a pull on me.

I live in Glencoe, Nova Scotia. It was settled by a Mac Donald who was a survivor of the Scottish Glencoe massacre. There is a cairn commemorating his settlement of this land and his survival of the massacre. I live in the final house he lived in and run part of the farm he once owned.

''Cruel is the snow that sweeps Glencoe and covers the grave o' Donald.'' I have always been intrigued by Scottish history, sometimes cruel though it was, and I found this archaeological dig and what they uncovered at Glencoe truly fascinating. I myself visited Glencoe when I was a younger lad many years ago, a hauntingly, beautiful misty Glen. Dave.

Glencoe is one of my favourite places on earth. It’s magical even though it holds dark history. I was only there last month.
