  The shots of Mount St Helens are from a series of real still photographs melded into a moving video.  The forest surrounding the volcano was flattened in seconds.  It was as if a nuclear bomb had been detonated.  Massive mud flows destroyed a lot too.  My father was in Oregon, a state away, when the ash was falling like thick snow.

  The doctor that you see when they discuss the AIDS epidemic should be familiar to a lot of people ... HIV is the name of the virus, AIDS is the name of the disease it causes.

  One of the problems with the Union Carbide gas leak in India, was that India, at that time, had very lacks or no safety regulations. The result of that was India today has more stringent safety regulations.

  I grew up in Chicago. That Tylenol (Paracetamol, aka Acetaminophen) was very scary for is, since this was local to us. The safety seals on products today, are the aftermath from this Tylenol poisoning.

  I was 16 years old, sitting in the emergency room with a broken knee waiting to see the doctor... we were ALL watching the shuttle launch..... and then it happened and the ENTIRE ER went silent...from the doctors to the nurses... even the crying baby.... everyone was staring is utter disbelief at the TVs.... for a good 30 seconds the ER was dead silent..... we were in complete shock.

  The man who saw Mt St Helena erupt was a volcanic scientist who was on the mountain studying it when it erupted and I’m pretty sure that was real footage

  I picked berries on Mt. St. Helens a year before it exploded. A friend was camping that Sunday morning and the flakes starting coming down like snow and they barely escaped in a car covered in ash.

  They made a big deal about a teacher going up in the space shuttle so they played the launch in many classrooms across the country it was my junior year of high school we would never forget this moment.
