  I’m 2 babies in, the 20 week ultrasound is scary because that’s when you determine if everything is growing properly. That being said, I would feel guilty for that to be the reason my husband misses an important family funeral. They can be rescheduled, it’s not that deep. My last 20w scan was postponed for 2 weeks because of a snow storm. Just reschedule babe, and GO WITH HIM.

  my mom has been dealing with cancer in her liver that they discovered a couple months ago. they've had several doctors appointments that involved both my sisters and my dad (i live long distance so can't be there). they have access to her charts so that they can see all the updates. It blows my mind that someone with cancer who claims to want her family around and involved would refuse show any kind of proof that she has a diagnosis. there's no way she's not faking it.

  For the mom potentially faking cancer, even if she DID have cancer, her behavior would still be unreasonable and inappropriate. It&apos;s not okay to guilt-trip your son and his girlfriend to be your 24/7 caretakers or get mad at them when they have to leave you for a commitment of their own, because you have a serious diagnosis. A serious or terminal illness is not carte blanche to treat everyone around you like your servants. Even if she does have cancer, she should be seeing a therapist because it would be clear she&apos;s not coping with the diagnosis well.

  I&apos;m a nurse &amp; I&apos;ve worked in emergency rooms. &nbsp;You don&apos;t get sent away after three hours unless there&apos;s nothing wrong (or there&apos;s gross incompetence, which is highly unlikely). &nbsp;Most likely, she&apos;s self-diagnosing, has been told repeatedly that she is fine, and is marked as a frequent flier. &nbsp;They will check out her complaint, just to be on the safe side, but send her on her way as soon as it&apos;s proven false. &nbsp;With electronic records, they would easily be able to see how frequently she comes in as well as any previous tests, etc. &nbsp;<br><br>Liam needs therapy to break away from his controlling mom. &nbsp;He can&apos;t put his life on hold for her. &nbsp;The sad thing is, she&apos;ll be &quot;dying of cancer&quot; for the next 30 or 40 years and the day she actually needs help, no one will believe her.

  As a mom who went through intense depression and suicidal ideation during pregnancy with my second (who actually never made it, miscarriage), I stocked my fridge and pantry with the easiest of meals and snacks for my toddler. I placed them in easy to reach spots in the fridge and pantry so he could get his own food. It wasn’t ideal, but it fed him. I did what I had to do. He actually took care of me a bit during that time. I’m not proud of it, but it was a dark time with my husband training to be a soldier for about a year in a different state. I got through it. I set up the environment for success and autonomy. It worked.

  The moment she said they wanted to move to Europe it all clicked for me. The mother is definitely lying (my mom died of cancer, this just isn&apos;t how it works) and just doesn&apos;t wanna lose her son to a different country. Absolutely insane to manipulate your own family like that!

  The breakfast story, it is perfectly reasonable for OP to set a limit for what they will do to accommodate guests in their house. Sorry the sister is going through something, but you need to be a parent.<br>(Adding) You can reschedule an ultrasound appt, you can&apos;t reschedule a funeral

  Ok I disagree with that, respect your elders, thing. Its like a participation prize for old people. How about just be a respectable person. It doesn&apos;t matter a person&apos;s age. If they are needlessly rude or disrespectful they can get shut down just as quick as anyone else.<br>Edit: an A-hole who gets old is still an A-hole. A Karen is a Karen at any age. You don&apos;t get to get away with things because you&apos;re older than someone else.

  Your fireworks comment made me think of a funeral story. One of my mother&apos;s relatives had past away. Apparently, he had one his best friends promise to put a laughing box in his casket when he died. They did it despite being apprehensive about it. The whole funeral home was laughing.
