Blaming Android for your lack of a family group chat before your parents' divorce is the most Apple user thing I've ever heard.

"It's a crocheted blanket, how much could the yarn cost, $10-$20?"

oh honey no

Heres the thing: lab diamonds are exactly the same as mined diamonds, except without the unethical labor. Anyone who says lab diamonds are more fragile, less sturdy, uglier, or somehow worse, is lying. They are EXACTLY the same. The myth that mined diamonds are better was started by diamond mining companies to prevent them from going out of buisness.

TBH, I would have just said “Ah yes, because it’s only sentimental if several orphans died in labor camps to get it for you.”

For the blanket/yarn, “she’s down $10-20” nahhhhh for a blanket depending on the yarn, size, and stitch, that could easily be $100+ for the yarn alone

As someone who had a miscarriage and has endo, OP’s comeback was brutal but fair.

She didn’t say the baby wasn’t real. She pointed out that her sister’s logic didn’t check. The sister knew what OP meant but flipped out because she lost the fight she picked.

I crochet so the rejected blanket bugs me. Crochet items are always hand- made because they are too intricate for machinery to replicate. A blanket takes hours and hours and hours. Also, there is a Navajo tradition to intentionally work an error into each handwoven item to make it individual. The error in the blanket makes it unique. Embrace it and love it for what it is.

10 years ago I knitted a blanket for my newborn baby, I was not very good at it and managed to mess up half way through by making half of the blanked a different pattern, but lucky me, it looked intentional and, since it was made it the same good quality wool yarn, cream colour yarn with colourful bits in it, it was not noticeable. After my baby grew up I used the blanket to protect Christmas decorations in the box. About 4 years ago I decided to donate it. 2 years ago I happened to be on the bus where a little boy was sitting in his pram with his grandma by his side. Boy’s legs were covered with the blanket I made. I could see the “mess up” I made half-way through. I almost teared up there and then.

    First story... I'm impressed.

Maybe its because I grew up in a household where the motto was "Don't talk shit you're not prepared to eat" but I would have given her a round of applause depending on the tone of the argument.

Crocheter here. If she made a mistake on row 36 of 1115, to go back and fix it, she would have to undo and then redo 97% of the blanket.

It's a no.

I wish someone cared about me enough to crochet me a blanket...idgaf how many "errors" there are. How can someone be so ungrateful.

for story 1. In my family we use the saying "I didn't need to kick in the door, it was already open" when referring to this kind of situation. I've had it used against me multiple times by my brothers and mom, and I've also just as often used it right back
