Some guys wrench on classic cars. Some run model trains. Then there’s cursed controls. They’re all spending similar amounts of money, and the results are all a work of art.

I hope your day job employer realizes what a gem of an employee they have and treats you accordingly. I spent 30+ years in my tech industry career encountering technically qualified people who would get the work done, but with none of the creativity and eye for detail as you show. It was refreshing and inspirational every time I'd be lucky enough to work alongside someone who did show those qualities.

Enjoying the long form, looking forward to the next one!

Got a big PLC job interview tomorrow morning. Wish me luck. If I get it, you helped a lot. If I don’t get it, you made me laugh a lot 😂.

5:40 Always make a diagram, or at least leave some kind of documentation, even if it's freehand. It's not just about the "future you" or the "next guy" - things can align in unexpected and unpredictable ways. My gf's dad, an electronics guy, wired their house, his workshop, a battery powered LV backup, and a bunch of custom control electronics, then had several strokes. He had a fun time first regaining his faculties and relearning things (some things he never did), then trying to figure out what he originally did and why. And that was with documentation, and just some of it missing.

Since i am not an electrical engineer, i do not even understand 50% of what you are saying. But i do recognise skill and attention to detail. You obviously love what you do, thank you. I wish there were more people who actually took pride in their work and strived for excellence....

@16:37 "I'ts not every day you get a brand new industrial enclosure at your house..." - Something tells me it's not an unheard of occurrence at your house however ;) I too love playing with commercial and industrial stuff at home. Do I need enterprise grade wifi, switches and router at home? Nope. Do I have it anyway? Yup.

I use Kicad for schematics. It’s designed for PCBs so it has alot of symbols.

LU 106 industrial guy, and I just want you to know I'd never be jealous of someone's house because of their pool, hot tub, etc... but I am jealous of this. So jealous it's embarrassing.

Love the overkill setup, makes me feel normal for the stuff I’ve done to my house as an IT / AV engineer. 😅

Hey, thanks for the videos. This is legitimately the only subscription I have on YouTube that I look forward to new videos. You make this Sysadmin of 20 years sorta of wish I went into industrial controls. Keep it up, there are lots of us out there in different fields just like you and appreciate what your doing and your ability to make it entertaining. 🤝
