For years, Dallas operated Love Field while Fort Worth ran Greater Southwest International Airport. After federal authorities urged the two metro areas to build a unified regional facility, leaders struck an agreement in 1968 to build halfway between both cities. Designed by architect Gyo Obata, DFW pioneered the curved, modular semi-circular terminal concept to allow passengers to drive up within walking distance of their departure gate. Today, DFW has evolved into a global mega-hub serving over 80 million travelers annually. 💡 5 Fun Facts About DFW Airport 1.
