  I had a really bad first experience when trying to get into comics. I went into a shop looking for Punisher recommendations and the guy that was at the counter laughed and said “ever hear of Google?”. Needless to say, I walked right out of the shop and it wasn’t until 4 years later (this past November) that I went to a different shop &amp; had a MUCH different and better experience.<br>This is a fantastic hobby but the know-it-all/gatekeepers really ruin it for those of us who are new.<br><br>Great video as always!

  I found a couple of online sellers that I have gotten exactly what the book was described as and I have become loyal to them. &nbsp;I might have to pay something like 5-10% more to them than to a random seller, but I&apos;d rather pay the extra a book than to take a chance on a &quot;great&quot; deal. &nbsp;There are sellers out there looking to make a single sale to a customer and then there are sellers that are focused on doing the customer right so that the customer comes back again and again.

  Regardless of the condition the comics were in when sent, it is the burden of the seller to ensure that they arrive in that same condition. If you have photos of the way they were packed, you are safe. But honestly, eBay always backs buyers instead of sellers anyway.

  I was traveling through TN yesterday for work and stopped at a small shop in an otherwise empty shopping center. &nbsp;I was looking for new books but when I walked in it was kind of what you described - unorganized, messy and just random stacks of long boxes piled and some on tables. &nbsp;There was a weird middle aged guy (like myself) there who quickly informed me he doesn’t have new books. &nbsp;However, unlike your experience, he was super friendly and invited me to look through his boxes, recommended where I could go for new books in the area, and said he would help me find whatever I might be looking for. &nbsp;I didn’t have time but would love to go back there sometime.

  Here is what i noticed with eBay. In the past (10+ years ago) the people that sold comics there were actual shops or actual collectors. They handled books right. They shipped books right and the Graded them with some accuracy. Because we were all in the same mindset and did this as part of our Hobby. Now people buy comic lots, flip them and have no business doing any of the above. This is because the are not one of us and treat you like how your video explained. I&apos;m glad i&apos;m not the only one seeing this change on eBay.

  To give a slightly different perspective on Record Trader: so I go there for the records and our teenager goes there for the cassettes. <br><br>I agree its a complete chaotic episode of Hoarders-esque situation in there, that&apos;s why we only go if we are in the mood to dig. And I bring hand sanitizer for the car afterwards lol. However he will post on fb and ask if people want him to special order any specific new releases, RSD exclusives, etc. which is nice.<br><br>Regarding the owner himself, &nbsp;when we&apos;ve gone, the guy has been nice and tries to guide us to an area to search if we say we are looking for something specific. He liked to talk to our teen about how good it is to see the youth listening to classic rock lol. I will say his personality has always been that blunt/direct NY vibe.<br><br>His son who runs the comics at the flea market did tell us a few months ago that the reason his store hours at Record Trader have been wonky during the week is because hes going through cancer treatments, so unfortunately it sounds like his medical struggles have perhaps bled into his customer service skills based on your experience :(<br><br>For a clean but smaller Record store. There&apos;s also Stellar Records which is maybe a mile from Record Trader. Its owned by a lovely woman named Liz

  I suspect we’ve all got horror stories, both with online transactions and LCS experiences. &nbsp;I just did a video on a bad eBay experience myself that will post in a couple weeks. A poor LCS, though, really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. &nbsp;If it’s dirty and disorganized I don’t even bother any more.

  I sometimes sell comics online and I do my best to ship my books securely and get them safely to the customer. Thanks for sharing your video. Very informative.

  I will never understand selling water damaged books. As a reseller (run a pop-up), I do my best to get rid of water damaged books, cigarette burns, terrible spine damage, etc.<br><br>If I did sell a book with interior damage that got missed, I simply offer them to pick up another book no charge. And yes, if they want to inspect, be my guest.

  I have purchased way too many Silver Age Marvel keys from eBay, from some of the most respected sellers and dealers out there to find out later that the book was restored (often by trimming). I was never taught to measure the books but when I sold them, I had quite a few disappointed customers who gave me some knowledge and a mouthful 😅
