  A financial portfolio, should be 80% financial investments, 20% Collectibles.<br><br>As a 39 year old, I only pick up one key book a year as a long term hold.<br><br>The rest goes on savings/index funds.

  I’m 65. &nbsp;Been collecting since 1974. &nbsp; Been buying pretty steady over the years. &nbsp;Certainly spent less while paying off my mortgage but always collecting. &nbsp;Not planning to stop collecting anytime soon. &nbsp;I’ve started to dump long and short boxes of cheap stuff in local auctions. &nbsp;My wife doesn’t want to deal with it. &nbsp;I have a relationship with a heritage auctions rep and my wife knows how to contact him, negotiate a deal for my good stuff and ship it off. &nbsp;<br><br>Best advice I could give any collector in any hobby is to not stick your family or friends with your collection without a rational plan to sell it.

  This video certainly makes sense to me. I am age 64, recovering from a health scare (a broken ankle), and I&apos;ve come to realize it&apos;s time to sell that hoard of comics in my storage unit. I stopped collecting in 1992. There are 27 short boxes, I think. I&apos;m not sure how many comics there are -- maybe 4,000. About two-thirds are pre-1980 -- silver, bronze and gold, all desirable. So here&apos;s my question. Can you post another video about &quot;the next step?&quot; You mention selling old comics collections through auction houses. Can you explain how that works? What are the fees? And can you compare this to going through a dealer? If I sell to a dealer, what sort of percentage of catalog value should I expect? What sort of inventory should I make, and what do you think of the Overstreet app for this purpose? And what about selling comic-related books (Graphic novels, reprints, omnibuses, etc.)?

  We are but temporary custodians of these ink and paper artifacts. They dont belong to us because we cannot take them with us. Enjoy them, respect them for what they are and have an exit strategy, but always think of helping the young, or older, upcoming collector and future custodian of the art you&apos;ve been keeping safe and enjoying and show them the value, not just the monetary one.
