  Solar panels generate roughly 10 to 25 percent output on cloudy days so if you can afford to get enough panels for the worst sun day of the year it will go better for you

  For what it's worth we run Directv, bunch of lights, fans, water pumps, a full size fridge, and electrically prewarmed gas oven. Of course I have a blender and all the typical electronics even a sleep number bed in our 12x16 tiny home. On our carport we set up 4- 430 watt panels with a renogy hybrid 48v all in one inverter and 12-8 volt deep cycle batteries. In Hawaii everything cost us about $4500. Been running almost 2 years with zero issues.

  I live in a small city. Called the local inspector. He said as long as I don't roof mount or ground mount or pull my meter, I didn't need a permit or inspection. So I've had 2,000W of used panels laying on bricks in the back yard powering a 24V 2,000W inverter and 5kWh battery. Took all my lights, computers, fridge, freezer, tv, etc off the main breaker panel. 1.5MWh have passed through that system in the last year. This year, I'm upgrading to 5,000W of used panels and a 10kW inverter and 16kWh 48V battery. Going to take almost the entire house off grid. Only costing about $6,000 and should pay for itself in 2 years or so. Having a TOU power plan makes it pay for itself faster. I'll be mostly using off peak power during the night and using solar to offset the expensive power during the day.

  I really appreciate your channel.  It’s very realistic and with today’s costs, living off grid seems like the wisest way to go!
