  Sledge hammer disassembly is rather horrifying, especially on a great old piece.  Penetrating oil, hydraulic presses are I think better than denting, possibly breaking something nice.

  Question prompted by ignorance: Love Evaporust, but once that was done, my first inclination would have been to force some penetrating oil into the assembly, especially on the ail to lubricate it while it was being banged apart. Would that be a bad idea?

  It needs some jaw plates with “Diresta” carved in them. Then you can press “Diresta” into everything that gets held by the vise.
