After watching a few of these "large vise restoration" videos, it's clear that back in the day, most home shops needed a vise to securely hold an aircraft carrier.

Like others have said. You cleaned it up, nothing fancy, left the ding marks, and it's a real working tool as it should be! Not a painted sparkling showpiece for a museum. Well done! Sub +1.

153 pounds, I couldn't even lift that, nice job. I've never seen a vise that big before, I'm 68 and used to garage sale/ estate sale for over 40 years.

I have a similar vice, not quite so huge but more abused. I rescued it from a puddle under a truck in a factory yard. It's pre WW2 and I restored it like yours, no new paint, replaced the bent handle, and it's good for another 80 years as a working tool. I'm happy to see it outlive me.
