A study done in England by a Doctor back in the 70's showed how the blood pressure increased during riding, which raised the levels of Adrenaline and quickened reaction times. Thei process made the rider more aware of his surroundings and helped him react to any dangers, making him a safer motorist compared to drivers sitting on soft seats, in heated cars, with loud music playing. They also got more exercise from 'man handling' their machine on rough roads and against strong winds, while staying more alert to other vehicles and traffic hazards.
Ask any person who got their bike license later in life, and they will all tell you that they are better "drivers" now because riding a bike alerted them to all the hazards they ignored when they only drove a car. Plus they look out for motorcyclists now which is better for everyone. It is no coincidence that in Europe where in many countries you can ride an underpowered stepthrough from a young age, without a license, once they get a car they have had experirnce of riding on congested roads, so they look out for motorcycles. So if we want better, safer car drivers, we should teach them to ride a motorcyle first.

I feel like riding a motorcycle today is the closest feeling we have to freedom. It's the modern version of riding a horse through the wild west. There's just something freeing about it, especially the bikes that are more mechanical and less techy.

My bike is my loyal steel horse. We go on a mission together and depend on each other rain or shine. It is my trusted buddy.

Maybe the real addiction isn’t the motorcycle it’s finally feeling like yourself for a few hours. If that sounds true, should we question the life we return to?

Mostly agree, but i imagine its slightly different per individual. For me it is mostly about being "present in the moment". Feeling the world around me as it is.

I have been riding for 26 years and it was only a couple of years ago I found out that people who don't ride, didn't realise most bikes they see on the road are not going anywhere, they are just riding. The amount of people I have talked to that just can't get their head around it. It was an eye opener.

I survived a lot of neglect and grew up much like Kineada and Tetsuo from Akira (It"s 10 o clock do you know where your fuckin kids are). Most of the time when that crooked guard rail and those little white lines are coming at me at 70 MPH is the only time life makes any sense.
