As the old saying goes, "There are no "old" bad riders!"  Because the "bad" ones don't live very long.  Every time I ride I am studying my riding technique, and I have done trainig courses just to make sure that I haven't picked up any bad habbits.  I started riding kind of late at 21, but within two years I helped form a touring club, and was training younger riders how to ride safely in a group and what protective gear they should use.  In a group we all looked out for each other and warned others of any road hazards. And If others in the group wouldn't follow our system, they were told to ride on their own.<br>You never stop learning. Now in my 70's I have 'down sized' to a lighter, slower machine, but I have no intention of stopping.

With 60+ years riding, I can tell you that a good rider is the rider who knows his limits and stays within them.

The most dangerous rider isn't the beginner who knows they're learning... it's the veteran who thinks there's nothing left to learn. 🏍️💭🔥

I ride alone. I don't know the skill level of other riders, and do not want to make that phone call to a wife or family that my riding buddy is wrapped around a tree, or squashed like a grape in the grill of a Peterbilt... I only have to concentrate on my ride, my skills. And, I've been riding this way for many years. Never went down, and I don't even have close calls.

Got my licence a month and my first motorcycle 10 days ago. In contrast to other riders at the age of 16-18 I know that my driving licence doesn’t mean that I know how to drive perfectly, it allows me to practice on the road.<br><br>But I’m trying to get better and to improve the basic skills on an empty parking lot. 😅

I didn't want to keep up on a group ride recently, so I didn't despite riding a 1200cc bike. Winding country roads in Australia, kangaroos have no road sense. The others were going like the Isle of Man. I don't give a damn what others may think. I prefer to ride alone. No more group rides for me.
