  North Carolina native here.  In the late 80s and 90s, the police and government authorities had trouble identifying that a serial killer was active.  Henry Louis Wallace especially.  The crack epidemic was driving up homicides, and police resources couldn't keep up.  A mother of one of the victims and the Charlotte Observer put the pieces together and finally got the police to investigate his murders as a serial case.

  I do search and rescue.  Everytime I get near the woods, water sources, ditches and fields I wonder who's out there we haven't found. YET.  If god forbid you ever run across a dead body, get out of that area immediately.  Killers frequently come back to those sites for all kinds of reasons.  Those bodies are souvenirs for some.  Some come back to see the decomposition progress.  To help wildlife eat it and break up the remains to make it harder to determine COD.  Some of them think that site is THEIR property.  Immediately contact the police and get away from it.  And killers frequently show up to search for their bodies victims.  To distract the search. To be "heroes " . And they frequently show up at the funerals.  To try and ascertain the status of the case.  To enjoy the grief of mourners.  There are NO BOUNDARIES for human audacity and sadism.  None.

  I knew him,  i went to unionville and Piedmont.  He rode my school bus while i was in elementary school.  He was kinda weird then.  I remember this very well.  It was big news in my area,  and our local Monroe Enquirer Journal.

  I lived less than a mile from him and actually saw him in a local gas station the morning of the day they arrested him. He was one strange SOB.

  Thank you for not treating these subjects lightly or like it's just a piece of drama. Real people were impacted and destroyed by these very real monsters.  You're one of the handful true crime channels I can even watch, keep up the great work!

  I love how @RuinRoad contextualizes events in the geography and eras they occurred in.  Videos are well balanced & re-watchable you can taste the actual HUMAN effort and genuine interest behind each and every one of them.
