Would you leave Sarah? What scenario would you like to see me break down next?

Sarah’s death in Season 2 is one of the biggest missed narrative opportunities in the Telltale series. Keeping her alive at least into Season 3 was necessary to complete the game’s core thematic arguments.
Her entire character arc exists at the intersection of two two philosophies

Carlos’s and Jane’s.

Carlos believed the only way to protect Sarah was to shield her completely from reality. That approach failed because it left her without basic survival skills or psychological resilience when he was gone.

Jane, on the other hand, represented pure cynical pragmatism. Her mindset was that people like Sarah are inherent liabilities lost causes who will inevitably drag everyone else down.

By killing Sarah off so abruptly (especially after the player chooses to save her at the trailer park), the game unintentionally validated Jane’s worldview. It effectively told the player that Jane was right all along: some people are just dead weight and trying to help them is a waste of time

If Sarah had survived, it would have provided a direct thematic counter to both characters

Proving Carlos wrong would show that shielding her wasn't the answer, but teaching and adapting was mirroring what Lee did for Clementine in Season 1

Proving Jane wrong would demonstrate that vulnerability isn't an automatic death sentence and that empathy still holds functional value in a collapsed world.

Without those parallel counter arguments, the second half of Season 2 feels hollow. Instead of delivering a meaningful narrative payoff about growth, adaptation, and teaching, Sarah’s arc was cut short for cheap shock value, undermining the exact subtext the season spent hours building up.

Ever since Clem taught Sarah to use a gun I was waiting for Sarah’s moment to step up and show she could be brave too … seeing her die so horribly if you leave her, while not totally without cause, was still gut-wrenching. But earlier in the game why even let Clem teach her how to safely handle a gun if she was never going to use one?!!! When Rebecca went into labour I thought “yes, Sarah is gonna help protect her!” … only for her to die in another horrible way was a real gut-punch 😞😞😞

Telltale seems to have a recurring issue where “your choices decide the ending” really translates to ‘your choices will get you a slightly different dialogue’. R.I.P Sarah, you’ll never have to fear the dead again 🕊️🕊️🕊️

The thing that makes me so angry about Sarah is how no one tells her shit, they hid her away from the world because "she would just break down if she knew", sentencing her to not have any skills or resource to face that world, and that patern repeats over and over again, she really got screwed over by her own family

No. It's immoral. Sarah was having a mental breakdown and clearly did not want to die. There is no reason to abandon someone like Sarah willing to change because she's "not fit for this world". She's not like Lizzie. She was willing to adapt multiple times and just wasn't given the chance. Jane didn't want to leave her behind either. She didn't know Sarah at all and blindly assumed she was like Jaime. I will always save Sarah in the trailer park

Every time I see Sarah get brought up in discussions, it gets slapped into me that reality is cold and hard. People will always find ways to justify demeaning or cutting out disabled people. If somebody's life isn't beneficial to someone else, they get dehumanized and their downfall is a disappointment they couldn't help or cheered when finally expiring. I grew up thinking heroes care for all despite their usefulness and that every life matters, but many are so quick to cut off anyone they see as lesser. Seeing callousness be reinforced during recent global events didn't feel good either, and people acting virtuous or morally above others when simple care in small ways can be taken as a burden or inconvenient. I don't know. TWDG season 2 just felt like a cruel reminder where even they didn't seem to realize the kind of hopelessness they wrote in with her character.

This entire season railroads you down a specific path so hard. Endlessly frustrating

I mean it's not moral to leave anyone behind. But in a world like The Walking Dead where every choice matters you gotta do some immoral decisions to survive. Morality in a world like The Walking Dead is a luxury that most people can't afford.

I do not recognize the lore end of Sarah , this is why I made my own plot where the whole deck colapses on her , the group believes her to be dead and leaves , a camp leader finds her after scavaging the debry and takes her in , done .

A man once said "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink it." Sarah was that horse

Sarah should've lived as a determinate character until at least mid season 3. Even if she didn't make it to the end or until the final season, showing both Carlos and Jane wrong would've been a good payoff. Like if Lee had been teaching Clem while they were in the Motor Inn and everyone was against it, but it turned out to be useful later.

There would definitely be issues, I mean one of the endings would just be Clem, Sarah, and AJ with no adult alone in the snow.

Season 3 could show how Sarah staying around Clem would help her grief over losing AJ— potentially making her easier to befriend as Javi. If only slightly.

Sarah could also help Gabe calm the fuck down by just being like "Hey I had a hard time with things too, here's dome ways I coped" before likely becoming annoyed by him like just about everyone else except Clem for some reason.

Especially when the latter half of ANF is all about family melodrama to the point everything else is basically secondary. Sarah pitching in her 2 cents when Gabe is all "but we gotta get my dad" to the two adults he knows were basically abused by his dad and the 13 year old who thinks he killed the kid she'd raised after kidnapping him from her.

Like. Holy shit. Sarah could provide so much insight into so many characters in ANF and doesn't even HAVE to go with Clem to get AJ, because Sarah would think Clem would come right back.

Her fate could be determinate again too. Being taugh under Linguard to be a doctor like her dad, dying in the final battle, choosing to be a supply runner or helping take care of the animals to have some peace. Farmer Sarah arc could've happened too where she grows plants she knows can be used as medicine alongside food.

Literally just anything but her dying by being left behind or by standing in the wrong place and having debris fall on her.
