Former Mormon here. We absolutely, positively, did NOT believe in the Biblical Jesus.

Mormons don't believe in the Biblical Jesus. They believe in a facsimile of the Biblical Jesus that Joseph Smith taught.

8:27 using Paul’s words here to justify any command to shed one’s own blood to supplement that of Christ is wild.

Paul "beating" his body I always thought was more like an athlete training for an event. It isn't self abuse as we see here, but more like training.

Tbh I have no issues at all with how you handle these things. You back up your claims, acknowledge counterclaims, and do it all with respect and calmness. I am not in the loop of catholic traditions so I usually take these as education for me so thank you for providing them!

I love that you encourage pushback. You won’t get any of that from me today but I appreciate it.

It's not for nothing the Bible tells us to TEST the spirits. Even apparitions of Jesus have to be tested. If the being that appears to you clearly opposes Scriptural Jesus, be careful.
