My man forced himself to understand 50+ stands in one summer and knew how to interpret Araki's whole writing style in return, respect is not enough anymore.

Killer Queen is the embodiment of Kira's murderousness. The First Bomb represents Kira's cold and calculating side. The detonation is silent, invisible to those who aren't Stand users, only destroys what Kira wants it to, and will completely atomize the target if the explosion is allowed to completely finish. A silent killer that stalks its prey and leaves no evidence. Perfectly fitting Killer Queen's stone-cold face and cat motifs. Meanwhile, Sheer Heart Attack represents the uncontrollable urges that drive Kira to kill. Its indestructibility and mindless pursuit of the hottest thing in the room represents Kira's inability to control it. The explosion damages everything around it, showing the destructive nature of Kira's urges. Its long range represents how Kira has to distance himself from his urges as much as he can to maintain his quiet life. He has to stop using it once he steals Kosaku's identity, or else he would almost certainly be caught. It screams for the attention Kira secretly wants, which drives him to torment his victims before killing them. Bites the Dust represents one final attempt to return to his quiet life, one last desperate reach toward the normalcy Kira needs to fuel his urges. Yet, in doing so, Kira makes himself vulnerable. He can't give up his urges or his quiet life in Morioh, so he leaves himself open to be caught red-handed by Josuke.

OK, so, while we don't know much of anything about Carne, the user of Notorious BIG, this interpretation would suggest that he viewed his problems as only being solvable through death. His own Stand describes him as a pitiful man who was used and discarded like a rag, dying with hatred in his heart. Said Stand is blind but utterly relentless, mindlessly lashing out at anything that triggers it by moving too quickly. Could that mean that Carne was the type to hold bitter grudges but never able or willing to act on them? A sort of "karma will sort you out eventually" type of attitude?

I also really like how holistic this is; as opposed to seeing Stands as a collection of random stuff that Araki threw together without thinking too hard about it. This also seems like it'd be very useful for a Jojo RPG...

Araki definitely writes Stand battles less like traditional shounen battles where one has to power up and overwhelm enemies with force and more like problem solving puzzles. The enemies always have abilities that need to be rationalized, defeated and solved with the abilities that the heroes already have to work around them.

I know Purple Haze Feedback isn't technically canon, but I really like its explanation for multiple-body Stands, which is that the user has some fundamental part of their character that was shattered in the past and the multiple parts of the Stand that manifest are like its broken pieces. Keicho had his innocence destroyed when he realized the misdeeds of his father and had to take charge of his household. Mista lost faith in his agency and became extremely superstitious when nobody believed the truth about the shootout that led him to prison. Shigechi has his social skills completely stifled by being isolated from his peers and limited to interacting with his parents.

I like the way  you emphasizes that stands are ways the characters problem-solve and interact with the world, instead of it just solely be based on the user's personality. I remember in Purple Haze Feedback novel claims that colony stands form due to the user mentally missing something I think. When I read it I thought like something missing in the head. So I like it when you said about colony stand users that "there are roles people are meant to fill.... So if someone is missing the people to feel these roles for them so their strength has to account for these missing roles."  It finally clicked for me. Thanks!

I like the idea that suits is their literal interface through which they are interacting with the world. I mean that can be said about any stand, but they are specifically get down and personal with the problems they are trying to solve.

One thing I’ve been thinking about are stands granted by mastery over a specific aspect of the world. For me, Pearl Jam and Dragon’s Dream are the two that come to mind. In both cases, the stand is linked to a mastery of a part of the world (cooking and Feng Shui) that they can now express in a specific way. But while Tonio’s stand is used to help people, Kenzou uses his mastery of Feng Shui to hurt others. In both cases, the approach the two have to problems relies on their understanding of some sort of mastery, but it also reflects their personalities and ideals. Tonio is a solo chef so his stand is a colony stand because he needs to take up the role of an entire kitchen, but it’s also because he wants to be with others and to spread the joy of cooking. Kenzou, however, is an assassin and a cult leader who only looks out for himself, so his stand is a singular stand. But because he cares so much about Feng Shui, which is a chaotic and worldly force, his stand is chaotic and neutral. There’s probably a lot more I can think on, such as how Dragon’s Dream has more than one form, or how Tonio’s desire to do things himself means his stand has hands but he lacks feet as he relies on others coming to him, or many other things, but this was what I could get off the top of my head.

This analysis makes Metallica stick out to me as a particularly interesting case. We know it's actually a colony stand, which from Risotto's backstory and even present circumstances by the time we see him fight makes sense, a need for self reliance and a lack of people to support him both in his youth before he became a stand user and again once the rest of his hitman squad is dead. However, the colony hides inside his own body in the blood, which firstly reflects his own use of stealth, but additionally creates the appearance of his being a bodiless stand that just grants him magnetic powers. If bodiless stands as you say are indicative of people who cannot solve/ avoid their problems then arguably this does somewhat apply to Risotto, who even despite his & his team's best efforts ultimately couldn't resolve his team's issues with the mafia, and while he got close he ultimately fell short of his main goal in killing Diavolo because even though he could hold his own against Epitaph's foresight he simply did not have the means to deal with King Crimson's time skip. His primary tricks are using magnetism for invisibility by coating himself with reflective iron dust, and for unblockable attacks by pulling iron out of a target's own blood as a sharp object, or out of the ground to use as projectiles which he can create/ launch remotely or from where the target isn't looking; he pretty much does fight as a power only stand user and as an assassin, while his stand's true nature as a colony is seen it how flexibly he can apply his magnetism and it's secondary power to possess other stands Metallica gets onto like we saw with Aerosmith.
