Whilst not a stand, I think Speedwagon as a character is a pretty good example of Araki potentially being inspired directly from the music itself and ties it into the character. REO Speedwagon's most popular songs are about loyalty and staying with someone as long as you can, "Take it on the run," "I'll follow you," Keep on loving you," Theres this underlying theme of deep loyalty to a lot of these songs and the brand of REO Speedwagon that I think could've inspired Speedwagon as this deeply passionate, devoted companion to Jonathan and his deep respect for him. People don't give enough credit to Araki's naming choices, and I get why for a lot of the more ridiculous names, but I think he's always been atleast somewhat intentional even since the beginning.

Reminder that Polpo biting off some of his fingers was in reference to the finger injury of a member of the band Black Sabbath, which his stand is named after

this Is a fact I wanted to share: Crazy Diamond Is based on the song "Shine On you Crazy Diamond" by pink floyd, wich is a memorial to one of the members who "had the ability to heal others throuh music" but couldn't overcome his own cancer, this is linked to Crazy Diamond's ability to restore everything except it's user and probably the reason why it can't cure diseases either

I've heard somewhere that Araki said he actually got ideas for stand ability by listening to a song first, not the other way around. It's definitely an underated part of jojo, I really wish someone made a complete analysis on all of the stands names

Araki likes to weave the meaning of songs into the stand's powers.

Araki used the album "In The Court of the Crimson King" for making Diavolo and King Crimson. The whole concept of this album is about loneliness, paranoia and power.

The song "the court of the crimson king" describes the crimson king as the concept of power and selfishness, but yet invisible and enigmatic(just like nobody knew who he was, but he still controled the entire mafia), also describes him as manipulative, controling others as marionettes (just like Diavolo made Bucciarati's group almost die many times just to make them deliver trish to get her killed by himself).

Also theres "21'st Century Schizoid Man" literally describes megalomania while repeating "21'st century schizoid man" (part 5 takes place at 2000's and schizoid is a mental disorder that is characterized by having no interest in talking, intimate relations and wanting to be alone).

And Epitaph lyrics is about someone who is really worried about the future and what's going to happen (really reflects the ability of Epitaph).
i could be talking about this all day but i think those are the main inspirations.

like Killer Queen was obvious enough but I refuse to believe people didnt inmediatly clock the relation between King Crimson the stand and how Diavolo is literally just the lyrics of Epitaph and 20'st century Schizoid man turned into a person and how the conflict heavily inspired by the lyrics of In the Court of the Crimson King

I love the idea of man who looks like araki blasting B.I.G while he's drawing manga with his assistants who probably never heard hip-hop before 😂

Part 4 Kira's modelled after David Bowie. His Stand and its sub-abilities are named after Queen songs.

Throughout Part 4, Kira constantly finds himself "under pressure". Both figuratively as he tries desperately to get away with his crimes, and literally while under the effects of 3 Freeze.
