Starting over wasn't part of my plan. At the time, I thought everything was falling apart. Now I can see that some of those endings created space for something better. If you you've ever had to rebuild your life after a major change, I'd love to hear: what helped push to the other side? 💛

So true. Sometimes the rug is pulled out from under us and everything falls down. It can be a really dark time. It happened to me, and it took 6 years to find my footing... and it's still rough at times.

My marriage blew up after 36 years and I had to start over at 62. Luckily I had a good job working from home as an editor and was able to support myself. The kids were all grown and gone, as well, which lowered the stress. But for a few years, I felt like I was robbed of my future. I had dreams of retiring, traveling, and enjoying our grandkids together. Instead, he got a new girlfriend and I lost everything because I left the house to him. I had to - he was and still is, a hoarder. I lost friends, family, my community, my dog (couldn’t take him where I was living), and so much more. Eight years later, I’ve never been happier. I am so glad I got away from all his BS. He was mentally and financially abusing me for years. Now I make my own decisions. I live by myself and don’t have any desire to date. My heart is retired, just like I am.

Wow. Finally someone who thinks like I do!!
I loved that you said trust your intuition- I can't stress how much learning to trust myself has helped me through the years! And you're right most ppl are well intentioned with their advice, but they're not you, they haven't lived your life, and they have no idea of all the little intricate thoughts we all individually have.

This was an absolutely lovely video - thank you!!

Great advice!

The premise reminds me of a quote from Richard Bach's book Illusions;

“There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for you in its hands. You seek problems because you need their gifts.”

Oh my. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I was 50 when everything changed for me. My husband of 34 years was getting more aggressive, more abusive, more everything! Every time he didn’t get his way over the least little thing he blew up telling me to get my s**t and get out. So when he asked me if I wanted to go to the races with a group of his drunk obnoxious friends… he said I could go or not go I said no I didn’t think I would go. He blew up. Called me every name in the book. Told me for the hundredth time get me s**t and get out. I had already told him if he told me that again I was leaving. I went to sleep that night sleeping better than I had slept in a long time. He went to work early and I started loading my suv. When he got home the next night I was gone and never went back. 20 years later I have a wonder kind funny husband that adores me . So happy ending can happen❤
