Add me to your data base. When I retired and then left for the Philippines at 63 from the USA, I had $150000 and now going on 6 years living overseas, I have $155,000. I have SS, 2 small pensions and dividend/interest which adds up to $3000 in retirement income per month. Discipline, living within your means, living in a cheaper country, paying your bills, travel and still be able to save money.

Got £200,000 at 56 stressed and miserable working 7 days a week, going to Cambodia in January to retire. Have 12 years till my pension, lost a few mates recently and thought life's to short so let the adventure begin.

I moved to the Philippines after I retired at the ripe age of 42 with literally nothing but a monthly pension. I was firm on living off 2,000 pesos daily for my basic needs, including beer! In less than 4 years, the farm I dreamt of, worked on and ran became self-sustaining and then some. I am living large, my own definition of living, considering that most of my 2,000 pesos per day budget for basic needs now go to "leisure" bucket. Go figure. My hack is proper planning, realistic expectations, flexibility, living humbly within my means, show kindness and then everything else is icing on the cake. In a couple of years I will draw SS. Living like a king? You bet I am (and in my own terms).

Many people save and never think about retirement at 55 years old because they’re healthy and thinking about retiring at home. Then something happens that hits home and lets you know time is more valuable than money. I had a million saved in the USA and was thinking about retiring at 62 but once a had a few health scares I said screw it and left for the Philippines. Take Social Security as soon as you can to subsidize your savings. Any thoughts about not having enough money will quickly disappear. Good retirement to you all

Excellent Vlog... I am similar to the Corporate Guy - PULLING THE PIN SHORTLY before my 61st Birthday. Live the life you love in SEA.

I am retired and have some cash saved. Easily affordable to live in some country like the Philippines. But the fact that I had to wait has given me a few problems. Health concerns now keep me from traveling and I can no longer tolerate the heat. I truly beleive that had I left about 5 years ago I would not have the health issues I have now. Stress and injury caused my issues. Both were work related. I still dream about living in Panama.

The divorced guy who waited 10 years or so before making the move, may have regretted he didn't do it sooner....but one thing for sure, he did the right thing by his children for staying. Period. He shouldn't have any regrets. Just my opinion.

You don't generally need as much as you think. But you might need more. You need a decent safety net for the unexpected

For me, the numbers are critical to the move decision. I really appreciate when people take the time to share how much they had saved/invested, their budget/outflow and how their finances are working out for them. Thanks for this vid.
