  Egypt , India ….veery beautiful cultural and historical sights … BUT …. Not comfortable , didn’t feel safe, felt cheated and hustled …. Definitely not safe for women traveling . Cops were not helpful . <br>Loved Iceland and noway …. but expensive . Loved Croatia …. Beautiful. No complaints.

  I have traveled the U.S. to National Parks 3 years in a row. As a matter of fact I just got back last week traveling from California to South Carolina. As a single retired military guy I don’t require expensive hotels. Gas prices when you get out of Cali start dropping drastically as you head east. IHOP and Denny’s have good senior meals and as a retired veteran with disabilities all National Parks are free. If you elect to stay in big brand hotels yes it can get expensive. I use mid range like Quality Inn Suites and build up a lot of points. They are often close to the parks. I also use Love’s truck stops for gas and snacks. Works for me. I save money for international trips by staying in the cheaper hotels.

  Having been born in Croatia, I&apos;m surprised, and not surprised you sort of didn&apos;t like the place.<br>Took my Canadian wife there a while ago to show her were I came from, and she loved it.<br>A year later, we move there.<br>Things were OK for a while, and then slowly she started to say, &quot;Oh, everything looks the same&quot;.<br>Yes, in a way all things look the same.<br>Whether you are in Rovinj or Dubrovnik, things begin to look the same.<br>Drove to Austria one day just for a change, and she slept the whole way there, and the way back.<br>So, we came back to Canada where everything is, in fact, the same.<br>Oh well...

  Totally agree on Egypt. My wife and I spent two weeks in Cairo and Luxor back in February and we could have easily shaved four days off the trip. The sites and museums are phenomenal but just hanging out was not comfortable. There’s so much poverty so we were constantly being hustled by locals wanting a tip. And the food in Cairo was fine but so, so bland in Luxor, which surprised us. If you go, go with a tour group and just catch the highlights.

  If you love the mountains and hiking/biking in Switzerland, consider Slovenia. The mountains and lakes are stunning. Food scene is not as good as Zurich, but far more affordable.

  I agree about Egypt, not a &quot;comfortable&quot; place to roam around, always better in a group or with a guide. I&apos;m from Bulgaria

  Allie thank you for saying this about identity. I sometimes experience this. You look like family to me and I get uncomfortable when this occurs. My wife is a great sport because she is an easily identifiable person of color. I also am multilingual and she is bilingual and overseas she gets mistaken initially as African until she speaks with an American accent in Europe but in the Caribbean we are treated well. We are cruising the Caribbean right now.

  Yes, cruising in Norway is great. Did that in January this year. All meals and alcohol included, so best way. Saw the northern lights there and in Finland. We will go back to see Norway in warmer weather once the Viking museum in Oslo is finished. Cheers from Australia 😃🇦🇺

  I agree that Switzerland is one of 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 (𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲). I also agree that aside from experiencing the historical landmarks (Sphinx, Pyramids of Giza, etc), 𝗘𝗴𝘆𝗽𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘄𝗳𝘂𝗹. Sailing down the Nile is an immense joy, but more than a day in Egypt is a high price to pay for the Nile experience.
