Edith's comment about Spock seeming like he belongs by Kirk's side and always has is such a great bit of indirect character building. By this point, we already know Kirk and Spock are devoted friends and not just captain and officer. This shows us that their bond is so obvious that a total stranger from a completely different time in history can tell it instinctively. And her saying it is remarkably touching.

Most modern audiences can't look passed the cheesy effects and the more stage-play type acting when watching the original Star Trek. Kudos to you two for being able to concentrate on the excellent writing that you don't often see much of today.
