Another great one is "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song." It was posthumously released. Jim died in a plane crash at the age of thirty in Louisiana on September 20, 1973. The song was released in March of 1974

Jim's song Operator is one of the most real and heartbreaking songs you'll ever hear. Time in a Bottle is precious. I've Got a Name is inspiring. Bad, Bad Leroy Brown is fun, but Jim is sooooooo much more than character songs.

Jim's last name is pronounced CROW-chee. He and his guitar player back up singer, seen here, were both killed in a plane crash in 1973. It was a great loss to the world of music. He had some great songs, most of them with a lot of humor and some with absolute beauty and heart. Check out any song of his and you'll wonder why you haven't listened to him before. Absolute genius he was.

The point of the song is don't matter how bad you are, don't mess with another man's woman.

Fun fact about this song... the studio radio recording is much better. It is has a fantastic swing/jazz piano intro which reminds you of '50s piano rock.

This is such a fun song. He recorded some beautiful ones too. Time in a Bottle, I’ll have to say I love you in a song, Operator.

A rich unique voice that tragically died too soon.
