  Cats In The Cradle is a must from Harry Chapin. You'll be able to relate to this song. I think nearly every guy can relate to it  in one way or another.

  Taxi is partly based in reality like a lot of Chapin&apos;s songs. &nbsp;The Sue character is Clare MacIntyre who was a well-to-do girlfriend from his college years at Cornell. The two did share such dreams such as Chapin wanting to be a performing musician and MacIntyre wanting to be a singer or actress and they shared a stormy relationship together. &nbsp;They broke up after about a year of dating.<br><br>Harry Chapin was inspired to write “Taxi” in 1971 when he really did become a cab driver in order to support his wife Sandy and their family. &nbsp;He read about his former girlfriend MacIntyre&apos;s marriage announcement in The New York Times and began to fantasize about the song&apos;s scenario. &nbsp;He recalled “I had this strong vision of picking up Clare somewhere and she getting into the back seat of my taxi and me seeing her in the rearview mirror and us recognizing each other. &nbsp;We would have both known right away that we had lost, that our dreams were gone and that we had both sold out.&quot;<br><br>Of course, Harry did go on to fulfill his musical dreams which still live on in his music today. &nbsp;Rest in Peace Harry.

  Taxi is one of the very best story telling songs of the 70s and there were 1000s of them John Denver , Gordon ligt foot , Jim Croce .Cat Stevens , Rod stewart ,Bob Seger were just a handfull of fantastic singers song writers of the 70s . My faverite decade EVER

  Harry CHAPIN (not Chapman lol) was one of the great story tellers of the 1970s. I would put Gordon Lightfoot in that same category. &nbsp;The &quot;female&quot; vocal was actually sung in falsetto by Harry&apos;s bass player, Big John Wallace. And he WAS a big dude--at least about 6 foot 6. If you ever get around to Harry Chapin again, please react to another one of his great story songs, called &apos;Mr. Tanner&apos;. If you thought &apos;Taxi&apos; was great, &apos;Mr. Tanner&apos; is a masterpiece. In that track you can hear Big John singing in his baritone voice like an opera singer, which I think he easily could have been if he had chosen that path. I think &apos;MR. TANNER&apos; will hit you hard. There is much more to Harry Chapin than meets the eye (or ear). <br><br>Rest in Peace, Harry.

  Harry Chapin and Gordon Lightfoot are the ultimate storytellers...they just happen to sing their stories. &nbsp;Their stories are VERY real and tug on the heart.

  Harry did go to the Air Force Academy to be a pilot, but dropped out. It was during the Vietnam war and he said that he wanted to fly not bomb. &nbsp;Many stories were written based on his life experiences. A Better Place to be is my favorite.
