That ship is actually just the Nostromo itself. The thing it undocks from is the mineral refinery it was towing as cargo, like a truck pulling an oversized load trailer. Other than being part of the background info explaining what the Nostromo and her crew were doing out in space to begin with, it's never really plot relevant and nobody ever goes inside.
