  I find it hilarious that it is implied in Aliens that the queen got into an elevator and clicked the button for the correct floor and waited to arrive

  On that "in the earlier films the Aliens weren't smart" line. The Xeno in the first film was EXTREMELY smart. It was alone so it knew it had to hide, and where to hide, how to outsmart Dallas in the tunnels as well as sneak its way aboard the shuttle at the end. In Aliens, because there was lots of them, they knew how to use strategy to overwhelm the marrines.

Him snoozing on the way down is meant to CONTRAST him with Gorman to show how experienced he is. While Gorman is freaking out Hicks can just fall asleep cause he’s done it so many times, he’s asleep because he’s experienced situations like this tons of times, it’s to show how badass he is not that he’s lazy. As for Ash, he did not malfunction cause he was an older model, he followed his orders to the letter, that’s exactly what Weyland wanted him to do if necessary. That’s just a throwaway line by Bishop to try and set ripley at ease, and likely a line towed by the company since Ripleys story came out when she returned.

But also that he isn&apos;t burdened with leadership for the group, he&apos;s not concerned with the rest of the squad seeing him snooze and he&apos;s totally at ease. I don&apos;t think it makes him look irresponsible, he hasn&apos;t had to step up to the plate yet

  The Xenos have always been smart, they just didn&apos;t have any opportunities to really show it before Resurrection. Just take a look at how Big Chap stalks and picks off the Nostromo crew one by one, or how the Queen understands Ripley&apos;s threats.

  &quot;The xenomorph was scarier when it wasn&apos;t smart&quot; Lol, did you pay attention in the first 2 movies at all? The xenos constantly outsmart humans and even deliberately cut the power. Sorry to break it to you, but they&apos;ve always been as smart as they are in Resurrection.
