They don’t use shields on arrakis because they make a frequency that pisses off the worms. The drone needle thingy can only see motion.

It is explained in the books that it was to keep the drone compact.<br><br><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCTop2PDeSE&t=583">9:43</a> In the book they explain that she is his concubine. He didn't legally marry her to appear available for political reasons even though he wasn't planning on ever being with another woman.<br><br>I know you don't care haha but this is just in case people were wondering :)<br><br>Edit: Just tried to clarify the drone explanation

The control of their body chemistry which allows Jessica to survive the poison also allows them to essentially become immortal. They could stop the aging process and live forever but they choose not to - as they know that the rest of humanity would notice a bunch of immortal women and wipe them out in an effort to learn the secret. So they let themselves grow old and just pass along their memories to younger Sisters. It's impressive that Frank Herbert thought about the consequences of all their abilities. Humanity turning on them is also why they hardly ever use the voice.
