  When I was 23, I was in a relationship for 5 years with my girlfriend. I was working 3 jobs side jobs and attending school part-time, and my goal was to pay for all my college tuition without a loan, get my degree, land a job in my field, then ask my girlfriend to marry me.<br><br>One day I caught her with another man, and I was utterly devastated beyond words. When I asked her why she did it, she said <i>”You never made any time for ME. You were always gone”</i> and I said <i>”Yeah I was gone because I was trying to build a future so that I could marry you”</i> and then I drove away seeing her in the rear view mirror on the street, just gradually getting smaller and smaller in the distance. I never saw her again.<br><br>That was 10 years ago, and that whole conversation still haunts me til now.<br><br>Edit: Years later, I found out they dated after I left and became boyfriend and girlfriend. They actually dated for 4 years and then he cheated on her with a different woman.
