I am a former data coder of criminal records for the state police. The one thing that became obvious to me was even if you got control over a predator in an attack, even if he is found guilty and given prison time the odds of retaliating against you at a later date is high. As a woman my motto is if someone is coming to hurt me I will make sure you leave in a body bag. I'll worry about the consequences later.

There’s one very important question that I could never seem to get an answer to. And I have tried numerous times. How many occupants in a home intending to defend themselves or others have successfully disarmed or mortally wooded an intruder into that house. Try looking it up yourself it’s really difficult to find accurate information and I think that’s very telling.

It's odd that an Amish guy would be talking about home defense. According Google, the Amish and groups like them, don't believe in using any object or chemical for self-defense. The only time an object can be used for self-defense is, if it is used only as a shield.
