Sacrificing Apple for Commodore? Speaking on behalf of the Internet, you made the right choice - sleep easy at night

Hi Matt! I really enjoyed collaborating with you on this, may I say, monumental 1541 revival project! It all started with me asking you to 3D print the front bezel assembly for me, which you graciously didn’t hesitate to do for me! One thing I discovered in the process when I misplaced the little tension spring for the new latch!… a simple push button pen spring is a suitable replacement! We all have a handful of non functional ones in our junk drawer!
Take care and don’t hesitate to ask me for anything in the future!

I must be lucky that all my Newtronics drives still work.

The sheer size (and necessary additional processing power) and glacial performance of Commodore floppy drives compared to the Disk II/Apple 5.25 drive never fails to make me giggle.

hell yeah, congrats on your first PCB!

There's a trick that a machinist taught me when measuring evenly space pins with digital calipers. First clamp the caliper around 1 pin, press the reset, measure the distance from the outside of both pins. The result is the center to center distance between the pins. The calipers do the math for you. No writing it down and calculating to 3 or 4 decimal places..

You are here to protect us; from the terrible secret of the 1541. Swapping will protect us; from the terrible secret of the 1541.😀 (With apologies to The Laziest Men on Mars)

I'm so glad you made this video. I saw the Bob's retro video about 9 months ago but he didn't identify all the wiriing and I wasn't sure I would be able to figure it out.
Add to that the PCB adaptor design and all the extra work you have put in - absolutely incredible.
Now we can turn those Newtronics paperweights back into working 1541s.
My only other comment is that I nearly missed this video because the title screen looked so much like the original.
I thought - 'I've already watched that one', then I realised it was different.
Thank you for all the great content
