I once played a Myconid Necromancer/Spore Druid. He saw nothing wrong with using humanoid corpses like they use plant matter after it is no longer living. "Dead is useful".

I ran a necromancer who started in with white necromancy, then dabbled into grey, but in tine of war he fell into using Black and got sealed away for 2000 years when he lost the war.

Meanwhile over on Athas they are using necromancy on dead beatles the size of buildings as undead war machines and walking fortresses.

Necromancy only limited by ones imagination and ambition.

One of my favorite characters ever was a good necromancer.
The party was a third evil. The other third was extremely good. But the good side didn't want to confront the bad side. The bad side had no prob within until the good were weak and snuffing them. My character was the balance. I made the evil side scared to attack the good.
The prob was, I was a little too good at being creepy. The good side thought I was evil too, despite knowing the evil guys were always plotting against me. But it certainly made for an interesting campaign for several years.
Our home base was a castle. Everyone moved out except me eventually. It worked out beautifully.

I played a necromancer character, who also served as the comic relief. She was a wizard who specialized in necromancy. She was also the youngest of a royal family, who got teleported over 1000 miles away from her home, kingdom by accident. We never got to finish that campaign. Her objective was to simply make it home. But she had to go past several hostile kingdoms to her home kingdom. There was a lot of shenanigans involved in that game.

This sounds more like a diablo necromancer then how most people in D&D see necromancers

The wisdom and guidance of the master is quite interesting

I was gonna run a Grey. His dad was a Grey, his mom a cleric. They had a farm and the dad used skellys to tend the fields. Never mistreated them.

Can we have an "Exploring Death and Dying in DnD" that goes into all the lore of what happens if a mortal dies in the Forgotten realms?

I've had the idea of a necromancer that repairs the bodies and raises the souls of the willing innocent. Then allows them to live in his demiplane for however many years they could've had if life was kinder. While bandits he'd raise to either compel them to defend it, or give them a chance at willing redemption.

The Raven Queen might have some objections to the morals of this neck
