<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMCFCB8AT2o&t=2642">44:02</a> it appears Szass Tam “stepped down” according to this D&D Beyond article (<a href="https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/2237-a-message-from-zulkir-tam)">https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/2237-a-message-from-zulkir-tam)</a> and became just another Zulkir (albeit one with more power than the rest, given that Heroes of Faerun says the other Zulkirs can do what they want as long as they don’t do something he dislikes, and the fact that both that book and SCAG say Thay is ruled by Szass Tam). However, this was most likely not consensual (despite what Szass might say) as he is plotting to overthrow the council (according to the secret page that is linked if you click on the right word in the linked article).
