Your hand pump cannot work with out a foot valve.

I would have driven the last couple of sections of pipe down. That would have given you even more static water levels. And to run that hand pump your going to need a check valve in the pipe so the water doesn't run back down.

For every new section of pipe you installed, you could have installed a T & hooked up an air compressor to aid in the process. Then remove each T as you drive deeper
