I’d love it if I could make a webtoon/comic eventually, but knowing me, my best bet would be to first write out and publish the story as a webnovel first to see if it gets any traction before I can even start thinking about making one.

omg. please give yourself more time. You completely deserve it. every two weeks is wayy too little omg. Making art shouldn't be painful. I understand it's your job, but you health is way more important

I ended up creating a short comic strip series, and just jumped into it. But that’s after brainstorming for several years… and I STILL don’t have a lot of story ideas to show for it. It is harder than you think, but it’s worth it to see it on paper.

They are called Ocular Migraines, and if they don't go away after 45min, with water, rest or a nap, you need to get checked out. I had it happen to me last year & it terrified me - I was dehydrated & it was past my bedtime. Ever since, I am super aware of it when it happens again. Cuz it literally looks like blurry pixels over a section of your sight.

i would love to make a comic with my own characters but long term projects are really hard for me and comics themselves are difficult to do. Thank you for the video, it was nice to listen to while drawing!!

Right now I’m just simplifying my style so that the characters are really easy to draw while still being recognizable so that I can get as much done as possible before my motivation turns to dust or my arm explodes

One thing I learned a long time ago is that trying to make an open-ended comic that just updates weekly forever is a recipe for burnout, because unless you're one of the small minority of people who can happily hyperfocus on a single thing for their entire life to the exclusion of all else, you're 100% guaranteed to end up losing interest and feeling imprisoned by it. I started a couple of webcomics back in the early 2000s when everyone was trying to be the next Sluggy Freelance or whatever, and each one only lasted a couple of months before I wanted to do literally anything else. So I think if I was going to back to it now, I'd only make graphic novels - that is, comics with a complete story plotted out in advance with a definite end, so you know what you're working towards, how long it will take, and when you get there you can stop and move on to something else. I find having an end goal in sight is massively beneficial for motivation if you aren't one of the small minority of insanely self-motivated people.
