Marc Davis once said that, in his opinion, Disney's greatest talent was in getting these nine guys to somehow work together without killing each other.

Of all Walt's animators I have to say that I adore the work of Frank Thomas most.

This brought tears to my eyes remembering how simple life was in the 50s and 60s. It's so wonderful you all had that kind of life with your fathers (mostly). I was abused but in between, there were very happy times too. I have memories of those times like you do. How painful it is to have lost great talent like your dads and Walt Disney. Thank you for sharing your memories! They are precious, especially in these times. Thank you for capturing it for all of us who loved the magic they created!

Wow, thank you for posting this!! My parents were good friends with Milt and Lara Kahl and our two families spent Thanksgivings together at the Kahl house in Los Feliz during the early 1950's. Sybil Kahl was my designated handler during these evenings, and I regularly tried her patience. The thrill of my life was in 1953 when Kathryn Beaumont and her mother were also Thanksgiving guests at the Kahl house. I was and still am a huge Peter Pan fan, and Ms. Beaumont was the voice and likeness for Wendy Darling. So, in my five year old mind, I was actually meeting Wendy!! I'm afraid I pestered Ms. Beaumont relentlessly that evening, but no kid ever had a bigger thrill. Listening to Sybil talk about her home life growing up all those many years ago, what she tells about her dad is intuitively how I remember him. My dad was also not good with little kids. Dad was a musician working for a celebrity, and all he wanted was peace and quiet when he came home. Lara Kahl was one of the nicest, kindest women I have ever known. She and my mother were good friends. Thank you again for posting this.

This is so beautifully documented! I recently bought Disney's Nine Old Men Flipbooks (total 18 flipbooks) and you have almost captured the story behind their work shared in these flipbooks.
