  If I'm having biscuits and gravy I'll order hash browns and mix my gravy in with my hash browns.

  I am no where near the South...BUT, any place that serves Biscuits and Gravy, where there is no sausage, needs to be taken out back and whooped. There needs to be 25 to 75 ratio at least. Sausage to Gravy...thicker gravy. 2 biscuits, cut in half and laid flat, smothered in thicker sausage gravy, 2 fried eggs on top of it all, pepper, hot sauce...chow down!!! Breakfast food has been some of my dinners for decades...and tacos for breakfast.

  Not all restaurants know how to make biscuits or white gravy. It’s according to the cook. Those cooks that do makes gravy with cooked pork sausage and large biscuits.

  Just wondering. Everyone seems to go crazy over biscuits and gravy. However, I haven't seen anyone mention trying Chicken Fried Steak, which is covered with the same gravy (minus the sausage for the biscuits).

  As a native Texan, I like to put black pepper on my biscuits and gravy. I like a lot of black on my food.  Just sayin'. LOL

  Both biscuits and gravy and grits are primarily a breakfast staple of south-eastern States. &nbsp;The gravy is actually a Béchamel sauce made from a roux of butter and flour, milk or cream, with ground pork sausage. &nbsp;American biscuits began as English scones, but the south-eastern States substituted buttermilk for milk and more butter instead of lard. &nbsp;This resulted in a lighter, flakier quick bread with a touch of acidity from the buttermilk. &nbsp;In the military they make a variation of biscuits and gravy using chipped-beef in a white Béchamel sauce on toast. &nbsp;Also known as &quot;Sh*t On a Shingle&quot; by the troops, or S.O.S.<br><br>Grits is a savory porridge made from coarsely ground dried corn (maize) or hominy. &nbsp;Corn kernels are soaked in lye or lime to produce hominy. &nbsp;Hominy tastes a little bit like corn, but less sweet, and significantly more chewy than regular corn. &nbsp;Grits are commonly eaten for breakfast in south-eastern States and can include a wide variety of different ingredients, with shrimp and grits being particularly popular with the south-eastern coastal States.

  True biscuits and gravy must have a lot of sausage chunks in it. &nbsp;No sausage, no biscuits and gravy. I am an American and I adore biscuits and gravy as well as pancakes with maple syrup and real butter. There’s just nothing else that compares. Throw in some bacon and orange juice, and I’m really in heaven.

  If you want the best biscuit &amp; gravy, its always gonna be at the small diner. They also have the best lunch.
