Living with my CHEAP High Mileage S Class, How Bad Could it Be?

The truth about cars like these is, the current value is only relevant to you if you wanna flip it or sell it again in the not too far future. If you just want a really nice car and wanna enjoy it for as long as possible it doesn't matter if a repair is potentially 50 % of the car's current value. Because what else are you gonna get for that money that's as good as this? Most likely nothing. So enjoy your Mercedes and treat it well, then it will treat you well too :).

Mercedes claims they use wood from the same tree in every specific model of the S class. So now you have mismatched trees in your car.

I bought a diesel version of that car with 190,000 km on the clock and sold it again at 370,000 km.
The repair costs were quite reasonable in my case.

The ride comfort is incredible; these days, I drive a company car.
It’s always the latest model, featuring huge screens and no buttons.
That Mercedes was the perfect blend of a modern car—without being annoying like those models with touchscreens, attention assist systems, hybrid batteries, and software crashes.

The best cars have already been built.

They are crazy cheap in America. In western Europe, a similar mileage S550 is double the price. And W222 prices are depreciating slower than the ones of the W221 and W220 at the same age and mileage.

I am on my 3rd S class, both the two previous ones had over 225,000 miles on them. I like to purchase them 10-12yearss old. I do all my own maintenance. Driving an S class just brings me so much joy, it is worth the extra cost for parts. Make sure you check and add on pigtail extensions to camshaft adjusters and camshaft sensor, they are known to get oil into wires and then to ECU. very easy to replace.

So happy that you guys have a workshop. I will excuse the multi-month wait with just one video, as this maybe means more frequent videos going forward so I can stop re-watching your previous videos. One of my top YT channels right here!

My one daughter drives a D2 Audi A8L for her winter car/driver. It was her grand uncle's car originally, it's pretty blacked-out, called the "Slav mafia murder machine,' has 184K miles on it. Fires up in 110 degrees or -10 degrees. Is it the cheapest thing to keep maintained? No. But it is aluminum, doesn't rot and is reliable. Cheaper than a car payment, too. Oh, her "Fun car?" A GT350

wool isnt from dead sheep, its from living sheep, they want to get rid of it every year or they get dirty and too hot, you for example dont die everytime you get a haircut

I had to replace the headlight on my 2016 S550, it was $5500. Good thing insurance covered it. Don't forget the transmission fluid needs changing every 60-70k miles. FCP Euro is your new best friend with these cars. Arnott industries also makes aftermarket air struts for the W222, the originals would be Bilstein. The top of the leather dash will separate and curl if left in the sun too, tinted front windshield helps prevent this. I added GTA CarPlay kit and removed the run flats for a pair of Michelin PS4s running shoes, also stage 1 Weistec tune. Stage 2 and downpipes to come.
